The project entails installation of new and modern equipment as well as new environmental control and management measures. It includes rebuilding the pulp drying, fibre line, evaporation and white liquor plant, as well as a new recovery boiler and new ash treatment plant.

EKN has made a preliminary classification of the project as category A. The project's preliminary key environmental and social risks relate to plant noise levels, wood supply and expansion of forest plantations, traffic increase and air emissions. EKN conducts an Environmental and Social (E&S) due diligence of the project. EKN is engaged in close dialogue with involved parties to ensure that risks are managed in line with international standards. More information about the project can be found here.
