The Swedish Export Credit Agency (EKN) is considering a guarantee for financing of equipment to a motorway project between the towns of Kinali and Malkara in Türkiye. The 105 km long three-lane highway is realised through a Public-Private Partnership. The project encompasses i.a. over- and underpasses, interchanges and motorway service facilities.

The project has a preliminary classification as category A. The key environmental and social risks and impacts from the project relate to biodiversity, land acquisition and involuntary resettlement, and labour and working conditions.

EKN conducts Environmental and Social (E&S) due diligence of the project based on the existing ESIA. EKN is engaged in close dialogue with involved parties to ensure that risks are managed in line with international standards.

This procedure is in accordance with the OECD Recommendation on Common Approaches for Export Credit Agencies (ECAs), the so-called “Common Approaches”.
