Gold mine, New Zealand

The project involves the establishment of a new gold mine in an area of historical mining, consisting of underground mining, a processing plant, and facilities for handling and depositing waste rock and tailings. Production is expected to commence in 2026. EKN has provisionally classified the project as A and is conducting an in-depth analysis of the project's social and environmental risks. These are initially assessed as relating to the impact on biodiversity, land, and water.
