Rosh Pinah zinc lead mine, Namibia
The Swedish Export Credit Agency (EKN) is considering a guarantee for financing of equipment to the company Rosh Pinah Zinc Corporation’s expansion and operation of the Rosh Pinah zinc lead mine.
The project includes the expansion and operation of an underground zinc lead mine located 800 km south of Windhoek and 75 km northeast of the town Oranjemund in southern Namibia.
The project has a preliminary classification as category A and its key environmental and social risks and impacts relate to the following key areas: management of community health risks and biodiversity. The Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) of the project is available in the following documents:
EKN will conduct an Environmental and Social (E&S) due diligence of the project based on the existing ESIA. EKN will also be engaged in close dialogue with involved parties to ensure that risks are managed in line with international standards.
