Gas-fired power plant, Sierra Leone
The Swedish Export Credit Agency (EKN) has received an application for a guarantee for financing of equipment to a new gas-fired power plant, the Western Area Power Generation Project, located in Kissy Dockyard in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
The new power plant is fuelled by liquefied petroleum gas and fossil natural gas and is estimated to have an installed capacity of 180 MW.
The project has a preliminary classification as category A. The potential social and environmental impact of the project primarily relates to high greenhouse gas emissions.
EKN will share more information about the project here when it becomes available.
