The project involves construction and operation of an underground uranium mine located 100 km south of the town of Arlit in Niger. The main purpose of the project is to produce uranium, which is required as fuel in nuclear power generation facilities.

The project has a preliminary classification as category A and its key environmental and social risks and impacts relate to indigenous peoples and biodiversity. The Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) of the project is available in the following document:

EKN conducts an environmental and social due diligence of the project based on the available environmental and social impact assessment.

Each transaction considered by EKN for providing guarantees in relation to the Dasa project is below the OECD threshold for disclosing Category A projects. Nevertheless, the transactions are cumulatively above the threshold and therefore EKN choses to disclose the project.

The information was published on EKN's website www.ekn.se on March 31st 2022. Comments on the transaction can be submitted within at least 30 days.  This procedure is in accordance with the OECD Recommendation on Common Approaches for Export Credit Agencies (ECAs).
