Surgil Project, Uzbekistan

EKN has received an application to support a Swedish export transaction to Uzbekistan.

The full project includes:

  • Drilling and development of gas production wells at the Surgil Field, south of the Aral sea in Uzbekistan
  • Transport via 150 km pipelines
  • Construction and operation of a petrochemical complex with associated infrastructure, i.e. raw water supply line connection, rail and road connection, workers camp etc.

The final products are mainly high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene (PP). In addition, gas will be sold.

The Surgil project is classified as a category A-project with respect to its environmental impact. EKN is therefore making the project´s Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) publicly, which are available in the following web links:
