Quarry project, Nigeria
The Swedish Export Credit Agency (EKN) is considering providing guarantees for the supply of equipment to the company Liquid Waste Energy Limited’s construction and operation of a quarry in Nigeria.
The project includes the construction and development of a new granite quarry, located in Idanre Forest Reserve, Ondo State, in southwestern Nigeria. The main purpose of the project is to produce aggregates, concretes and blocks and to supply major cities in the country.
EKN conducts an environmental and social (E&S) due diligence. The project’s Environmental and Social Impact Assessment is not yet available for review and disclosure.
The quarry project has a preliminary classification as Category A since the project is located in a sensitive and protected area, and large-scale extraction of construction materials may pose large impacts on the environment and people.
The information was published on EKN´s website www.ekn.se on May 26th, 2021. Comments on the project can be made within at least 30 days. This procedure is in accordance with the OECD Recommendation on Common Approaches for Export Credit Agencies (ECAs).
