450 MW gas power plant, Mozambique

The Swedish Export Credit Agency (EKN) is considering providing guarantees for the supply of equipment to the Central Térmica Temane (CTT) 450 MW gas power plant project.

The project involves construction of a new 450 MW gas power generation facility in Mozambique, a country with large development needs. The project is located in northern Inhambane Province approximately 30 km southwest of the town of Inhassoro, 20 km inland from the coast. The main purpose of the project is to increase transmission capacity for domestic and regional markets.

The project has a preliminary classification as category A and its key environmental and social risks and impacts relate to the following key areas: air quality including greenhouse gas emissions, biodiversity, and resettlement. EKN conducts an environmental and social due diligence of the project based on the ESIA.

The information was published on EKN´s website www.ekn.se on November 14th, 2021. Comments on the transaction can be submitted within at least 30 days.  This procedure is in accordance with the OECD Recommendation on Common Approaches for Export Credit Agencies (ECAs).
