UN's Global Compact & the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises
EKN has been mandated by the government to inform its customers about the OECD’s Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the Swedish Global Responsibility Initiative.
EKN wishes to draw the attention of its customers to recommendations published by the UN, the OECD and the Swedish Government concerning responsible business and the need to give consideration to human rights, corruption and sustainable development etc.
The Swedish Government has invited members of the business community to join it in the Global Responsibility Initiative – the Swedish Partnership for Global Responsibility. This initiative is based on the principles laid down in the UN’s Global Compact and the OECD’s Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.
The Government would welcome the support of business enterprises for these international principles and hopes to see them become “ambassadors for human rights, decent economic and social conditions and a healthy environment”. In a separate initiative, the Minister of Trade has appealed to Swedish companies and urged them to give their support to the OECD Guidelines and apply them in their business activities.
